'Runners Travel to Beaumont in SLC Match Up

The UTSA Men’s Basketball Team continues Southland Conference play as they travel east to take on the Lamar University Cardinals on Saturday.
Coming off a gritty 67-66 loss to UT Arlington on Wednesday, UTSA finds itself in 6-2 in conference play and 14-8 overall.
Despite playing very good basketball the last several weeks, an early loss to Texas A&M Corpus Christi and the UTA loss has the Roadrunners are tied for 2nd place in the conference with 3 other schools. Lamar, at 5-3 in conference and 14-8 overall, are just one game back.
With conference playing nearing the mid-point, the importance of each of the remaining games increases exponentially.
Former Texas Tech and 1st year head coach Pat Knight leads the Cardinals. Lamar, coming off an 83-59 win over SE Louisiana on Wednesday, is right in the mix of the SLC standings.

vigor in their game, pulling off what is now a 5 game win streak with their
78-66 win over Sam Houston...
In a mid-week game, replacing the cancelled Wayland Baptist
game from Dec. 19, the UTSA Roadrunners did what was expected – and then some -
beating the visiting Jarvis Christian Bulldogs, 115-49.
In a game that had it all: a large hostile crowd, combative
chants between passionate fans from both teams, Runner fans throwing all types
of birds in the air, and last second drama; the Roadrunners were able to hold
on and defeat their I-35 rivals, 80-75.
In Nacogdoches, the Roadrunners found some grit defensively
and looked to take that momentum back to the Convo against Northwestern St. That momentum would result in a solid
offensive showing as UTSA beat Northwestern State, 80-62.
The UTSA defense played at a high level of intensity for 40 full minutes and outlasted Stephen F. Austin 59-52 Saturday night at William R. Johnson Coliseum.

first week of Southland Conference play was certainly eventful for the
UTSA Men’s Basketball Team. Last Wednesday the ‘Runners blew out Nicholls State 91-50 and on Saturday UTSA won on the road vs Sam Houston State 62-60.
