UTSAtailgaters has confirmed that The University of New Mexico Lobos have expressed interest and been in contact with UTSA regarding a potential football series between the two schools.

Head UNM Coach Mike Locksley will be entering his second season at the helm of the Lobo program and has more than a handful of red shirt and true Freshman from the Lone Star State sprinkled throughout his roster. The potential of playing a game and trying to spread the Lobo's recruiting hand further into Texas is intriguing along with coming to play in a venue like the Alamo City and the Dome.

UTSA already has a four year contract with Colorado State of the MWC starting in 2015 and all four games will be played by 2018. UNM could be the next in line for UTSA as the Runners draw closer to the start of their inaugural season in 2011 and look to fill their future schedule with FBS opponents as UTSA is full steam ahead in getting an invite to join the FBS ranks!!!

Stay tuned for any updates...

I wonder if we will seek a 4 year contract similar to the Colorado State deal. Hopefully these are 2013 games.

Sound Off!
