With the start of the high school football season now under way, UTSATailgaters will try to keep RunnerNation up to date with how some of the 2011 UTSA commits are doing on the high school gridiron. We'll attempt to recap the best performers and post a stat line. Please note that it is very difficult to find posted stats for defensive players at the high school level. (If we have missed an honor roll performance, please feel free to send us a stat line at our listed emails)

Now, let the Honor Roll for Week 0 begin: DB/RB, Joseph Lizcano (Clemens) Has started playing RB for the Buffaloes as well and had 19 carries for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. Including a 53 yard scamper.

K, Josh Ward (Pleasanton) Chipped in 2 extra points and knocked in a 38 yarder as well.

DB, Alondre Thorn (Hutto) Had the defensive highlight of the night in picking off a pass and returning it 48 yards the other way for six points. He also threw a pair of 2 point conversions as well. Was the leader of a very stingy Hutto defense.

RB, Troy Williams (SA Madison) Started as the FB and lead blocker for blue chipper Aaron Green on the nationally televised showdown with Steele on ESPN. Had 73 yards on 14 carries and one catch for 22 yards. Troy showed incredible selflessness in getting key block after key block to help spring Green. Showed great power in bowling over UTEP commit Shane Huhn in one run.

This kid has been on varsity for three years. Wow, he filled in for Green very nicely last year when Aaron went down. Honestly, if he keeps this up, I hope we don't lose him to a mid major, non-bcs school. As long as he knocks out the grades & doens't get hurt, he might already be a nice jewel for the class of 2011.

Troy Williams played fantastic, hard runner with great ball security, and good run blocking at the line and downfield. His great play got UTSA mentioned about 10 different times.

yeah yeah! give it up to Troy! Selfless play and brought attention to UTSA.
